Being something of a circus itself, A Monkey's Uncle is as good as a day at the zoo--except that the clever but unmodulated albino-like drawings may strike the child as white-on-white looking woefully inside-out. A reclusive newcomer to Gruenwiesel determined to teach a lesson to that busybody town one day imports his British ""nephew"" and makes it known that he's grooming the eligible young man for introduction to Society. After instruction in German and dancing, the nephew is whisked into every parlor in the village charming all with the strange antics they attribute to ""those English"". . . until a hilarious happening brings about his unclothing and disclosure as an ape. The title gives it away, of course, but without diminishing delight. Which is just one measure of its strength.
