William Howells, noted anthropologist at Harvard and author of the immensely popular evolutionary story of man (Mankind So Far) published in 1944, has written his current book with ""the same subject and similar plan""; however, in the light of the many facts and findings that have been uncovered in this field in the intervening years, Mankind In the Making must be considered a new, rather than a revised, study. Appended to the text are index, glossary, and ""a formal classification of those main groups of vertebrates and primates which are important to man and his ancestry"". Too specialized for most general readers, this is an up-to-the-minute reference work in the field of the evolution of the races of man.
