DIG OR DIE, BROTHER HYDE

These reminiscences of the career of a pioneer Methodist preacher make fascinating reading. One day in 1885 a young preacher was dumped off the is the prairds town of Graton in Duketa Territory by the presiding elder of the church with awaiting him and no promise of financial support, and with his superior's ""Dig or Die, Brother Hyde"" as his orders. The story of how this and other frostier congregations were built up from nothing by the sheer and seal of a dedicated young man goes far to explain the strength of and indeed of American . In accordance with the of transferring their pastors every two or three years, Brother Hyde was at first in Daketa, later in Chio and finally with a keen sense of humor. It is a refreshing story of man who was also a great human being.
