M. I. N. D. OVER WEIGHT: How to Stay Slim the Rest of Your Life

In case you're wondering, the M.I.N.D. stands for ""Method in Natural Development""--and yes, the rest of the book is as much poppycock as the acronym. This husband-and-wife team run their own weight-loss clinics--called guess what--and the substance of their argument is that you can eat whatever you desire, whenever you desire it (we've heard that one before); all you have to do, it seems. is change your desires. This is accomplished in two steps: mind and body relaxation techniques (suitably set out on pages with plenty of blank space); and mental visualizations of a thin you emerging from a ""swirling white mist"" and clothed in all the latest fashions. Once the subconscious gets this message, the story goes, you'll repudiate doughnuts with such pure thoughts as ""Uh oh, I'm a thin person, and thin people don't eat like this!"" Not much they don't.
