The philosophical Mr. Spenlove, chief engineer of ""the Sansorino"", spins the yarn of Captain Runson, Paula and Ottilie, to satisfy the curiosity of a passenger who had known them. It is the story of a man who gave up a career and a fashionable wife for a new set of values in a tropical backwater. A sort of Moon and Sixpence theme, written with wholly different technique and a new set of incidents. In McFee's own words, this is ""rich in the vitamins of romance.
