Perhaps this is destined to make literary history but I can't help voicing the hope that it marks a sign-post for a road that will not often be travelled. Sketches -- episodes characterizations -- anecdotes -- all written in an irritatingly disjointed style, which to most of us, would seem to indicate lack of coordination of thought, and self-conscious divergence from the conventional and established standards. Many of the stories have appeared in American Mercury, in Story, in Esquire. The market? Those who are seeking literary hors d'oeuvres, a new sensation for the jaded palate.
