by William Saroyan ‧ RELEASE DATE: Dec. 26, 1940
Family and boyhood episodes of an American born Armenian, Aram, and his mad cousin Mourad and the white horse; his sad uncle and his reckless uncle, his cousins etc. Undoubtedly autobiographical in origin, these stories of school, religion, the circus, swimming, the wealthy Indian, travel -- all sketches rather than straight stories, told in the ""prodigy's"" usual formless manner with sympathetically treated characters and background. As remembrances rather than philosophical outbursts, these have more warmth and pleasantness than most of his sketches. Additional value in picture of the foreigner in America.
