A handsome volume, with 31 pages of full color photographs, 25 pages of special full- color maps, hundreds of black and white photographs, some of them very choice, and small 2-color maps of every country. The basic arrangement follows the conventional arrangement under continents and countries, and preliminary sections tell how to use the information to best advantage, define terminology, outline the sub-sections with cross reference to give them comparative value, and summarize some facts often in dispute-the biggest, highest, longest, etc., related to oceans, mountains, rivers, and so on. The major physical features receive a double view- as general factors, and as specifically concerned in each regional section. The reading matter is precise, sharply focussed, specific where needed and general where changes are fast occurring (i.e. the Belgian Congo). A very useful book for public libraries, family or school reference.
