Through the excellent New York Times maps, there is a running story of the world on the eve of war, under the impact of war, linked with campaigns, statistics, and strategy. Manpower production, industry -- as well as movement of men and machines, are indicated. Certain sections that we half forget -- the Scandinavian countries, for example, came to life as I looked and tried to fit the pattern of war into the living maps. Excellent running text.
