This volume of essays or homilies by an Irish Catholic priest should encourage Catholics to stand fast in the faith despite the onslaughts of pagan thought and practice. The author is a shrewd observer of the human scene, deeply steeped in literature and history as well as in the traditions of his church, and he writes well. In consequence, his essays though by no means profound, are most readable and will be appreciated by many non-Catholics as well as by those of his own faith. He seems particularly concerned with a counter-attack against theosophy, psycho-analysis and other forms of ""mental healing.
