THE LESTER AFFAIR

The affair is one of Garve's storms in a demi-tasse cup in which Lester, about to be the Progressive Party's leader, is rigged to the mast of his yacht when a young woman he claims notto have known at all says she knew him very well and there's her topaz ring in the basin of the boat to clinch it. Too clever by no more than a quarter and running to about a third less than most readers, including his faithful ones, have every right to expect -- a meager 141 pages.
