POOR, POOR, OPHELIA

College cop Casey and career cop Krug make their first appearance here with the shaggy ease of old timers while they track the murderer of a lovely waif, Holly Berry, whose sodden remains are found in the waters off Santa Monica. The suspect, a young corporation lawyer, sprints ahead on a trail that leads through the drug-rock scene, a boatyard, a sadist's refuge with a welter of clues from keys to car trunks. The plot does get thick, but Ophelia's fast and more than fair.
