by Catherine Aird ‧ RELEASE DATE: June 28, 1968
When Henrietta's putative mother is run over, the pathologist claims she had never borne a child; a little later the man in the photograph she had always thought was her father is disposed of, and someone who looks just like him turns out to be alive, not dead. Not as arresting as her Religious Body, still Miss Aird's pleasant puzzle is blood-typecast in a well bred, well written and genuinely superior conservative tradition.
