A new addition to the series which already include Trees and Trails, Animals in Fur and Insects on Parade, this book attempts to introduce the reader to the five major families of American bird life: water birds, birds of prey, game birds, perching birds, and small birds of unusual habit. As stated by the author there are some 1686 known species of birds found in this country, so that it would be impossible to represent them all. Rather, he attempts to give the young ornithologist the means of classifying the birds and with the bibliography he provides, to further pursue his study in terms of individual species.
