EFFECTIVE ENGLISH

Where Stratton's Guide to Correct English took me back to prep school days of rhetoric and etymology in a comfortably nostalgic blend of recall and modern twists, so his Effective English brings up to date college courses in then-termed Exposition, Argumentation, Descriptive and Narrative writing and Critical Writing. Would that more of these were as effectively taught today. This book helps fill that gap with the clarity and exactness he advocates.
