PUERTO RICO AND THE VIRGIN ISLANDS

A different type of travel book, covering some of the same district. This for the armchair traveler, who wants an intimate personal story of not only the ports of call, but the out of the way places, off the beaten track, the other towns and villages than those usually seen, the sort of life that one spending a long season in one island could share. Not for the cruise visitor, except as incentive to linger. Those who read Du Bose Heyward's Star Spangled Virgin will find the factual background recounted. This is a good companion volume to the Early book, but not a substitute.
