MATTHEW LOONEY AND THE SPACE PIRATES

Increasing pollution caused by Earthling visitors leads the Moonsters to consider migration to the planet Freeholy, and the redoubtable Matthew Looney is tapped for an exploratory voyage. Looney soon runs into some unfair competition from unscrupulous entrepreneur Hector Hornblower, meets the runaway princess Annalunkus Klunkus from Bolunkus and gets arrested by the Klunkan punstables (a punishment to fit the crime). But he effects his escape by lacing his guards' canal juice with a little Lavaberry Essence (a hallucinogen?) and convincing Annalunkus that the predictions of the Klunkan futurians are far from infallible. Even though Matthew never actually reaches Freeholy, the mixture of unselfconscious satire and free-wheeling word play keeps him successfully in orbit.
