EXPERIMENT IN FRIENDSHIP

With an introduction by Rufus Jones, this is a plain, unpretentious account of the Quaker relief projects in Finland in 1946, particularly in Lapland, victim of the ""scorched earth"" program. Attacked by both sides, helped by none, not even UNRRA, with heavy reparations exacted by Russia, here is a country neglected and deprived, losing spiritual faith and physical stamina. The Quakers brought as much aid as was possible, and this is a factual account of their achievements:- food relief, field staff work, life in the barracks; work camps established; distribution of clothing; handling of housing; caring for the destitute. A straightforward, impersonal report.
