by Don Stanford ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 1, 1957
A story of English riding and riding schools takes American Dinah Wilcox through a stiff summer at Owen-Allerford, a school whose course in Horsemanship involves not only expertness of technique but a full knowledge of care and feeding, stable management and elementary riding instruction. There on her own money and not at all sure she will make the grade, Dinah can only hope she will pass the final British Horse School Examination for her Preliminary Instructor's certificate before she returns home to college in the fall. The summer brings its ups and downs, its falls, its misdeeds and its new knowledge of people at close quarters where many types and nationalities are represented. And it is all geared to the rigid program of work, study and technique which should provide ample pleasure for straightbacked, highhearted readers and riders.
