THE MYSTERY OF THE BLUE ADMIRAL

Continuing the adventures of English Inspector Hadley's family of avid young detectives (see The Mystery of the Scarlet Daffodil-1953) is another story told in the first person by 15 year old Peter. It involves the theft of an unattractive old painting for which no one can fathom the reason. But, the Hadleys with the help of a doctor friend, come upon clue after clue and arrive at the final solution- that the painting has been done over to hide a drawing that reveals the whereabouts of an old family treasure. Well developed episodes and an emphasis on scientific thinking make lively reading.
