by E. W. Hildick ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 26, 1977
A would-be member of the McGurk Organization proves that the brain--Brains Bellingham, that is--is quicker than the eye with a classy trick that turns Dennis the terrier invisible and nearly catches McGurk and fellow detectives Willy, Wanda, and Joey flatfooted. That keen McGurk insight sees through the hoax in time to hoist the trickster on his own nylon thread, but it's clear that Brains eminently deserves the resulting invitation to become the Agency's resident forensics expert. Fast and slick, with the usual light-fingered touch.
