A pioneer story which is almost first rate. It is hard to analyze the reason that at times the story limps a bit, at times it seems somewhat amateurish, for most of the story is well-paced and well-told. A convincing picture of Deadwood City in its lawless days and of the beginnings of the Vigilante activities which brought some measure of law and order and made it a community safer for Tony and her mother and the other women. Tony was a charmer -- with a will of her own, and she wrote her own laws when it suited her, but proved her mettle when it was needed.
