by Elizabeth M. Lynskey ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
The able Professor of Political Science at Hunter College, New York has given in the brief compass of this book a clear outline of the organizational structure of the Roman Catholic church. Professor Lynskey clearly has in mind the recent discussion concerning the proposal to send an American diplomatic representative to the Vatican City and the charge that the Catholic church is totalitarian in its organization. The writer is of course a Catholic and her exposition is made on the pre-suppositions of the Catholic position as to the function of the church. Nevertheless, the book is objective and non-argumentative. The book, with its introduction by Professor John J. Meng and its preface by President George N. Shuster of Hunter College provides a clear presentation of the Catholic conception of the structure of the church and its relation to the secular states and the secular world.
