A delightful and magical glimpse of history by the author of last years' . Although the twins Cathie and Ted Brandon lived in the old town of New Castle, Delaware, Tom found their father's insistence that they learn something about its history rather trying on vocations. Through a pair of magic spectacles borrowed from a strange little Dutchman, however, the twins discover a brand new view of history, and as they travel through time, find themselves in the midst of events in New Castle's history, meeting Andrew Jackson and Kit Carson; watching the arrival of Lafays and Henry Clay, helping in the great fire of 1824 and riding on the first railroad in Delaware. A lively gimmick --this would be great fun in the history class.
