CAT

A book you can read before you know how to read,"" says the subtitle, confuting itself, speaking obliquely to mama or grandma, selling what is quite simply a shop-early stocking stuffer or an earlier red hearts, flowers--valentine. And simple it is: on her way home from school a little girl is clutched by a black kitten, whom she hugs and feeds; girl goes, kitten follows, grabs again; girl takes kitten into house, cries (two big tears); mother relents, girl rejoices. Kitten is under quilt at the last; book is not worth rapping.
