FATE IS THE HUNTER

A long book without a dull word in it. Nineteen years of Ernest Gann's life were dedicated to his role as a commercial pilot, and this is the story of those years. Grueling training, assignments to experienced pilots, living with fear and its concommitants are all dominated by a powerful sense of realism. One finds the stuff of which many of his books were subsequently made; books like Island in the Sky and The High and the Mighty. It is absorbing reading and through it the man- as well as his chosen field -- comes alive.
