SANT AMARILLIDE: ""Saint Amarillide

Lighthearted, summerish reading, dealing with a modern girl, Amarillide, whom her scatterbrained household nicknames Saint. Laid in northern Italy, this gives a pretty good picture of Italian landed gentry as well as the trend of present day youth. Living way beyond their means, the family's extravagances --financial and moral -- are cut short by the death of their father when Amarillide takes hold -- and attempts to settle the family. Pleasant -- sympathetic -- but gossamer.
