Mrs. Bontempi and her husband, Pino, have a appeared on television for 16 years and by popular request, this is a selection from some 8000 dishes they have presented. The ""more than proportionate"" is actually a preponderant share of Italian recipes, all authentic. While for the most part ""practical and easy to prepare,"" they also constitute a fairly de luxe Italian cuisine with a good many innovational ingredients and variations. Most of them are sufficiently sophisticated (wines, herbs, etc.) and elegant to appear on more formal, festive occasions and even if the Bontempis are not as familiar as Julia Childs, they unquestionably have a 21"" image which will materialize in a readership.
