THE ROMANCE OF AMERICAN TRANSPORTATION

Good -- gives credit where credit is due in placing backgrounds and personalities, often not the expected ones. Gives one a sense of the roots of American transportation through brief biographical and anecdotal material, and has appeal for the more serious minded juniors through the scientific approach. The one criticism is that the author (editor of American Boy and author of Automobiles. From Start to Finish) includes almost more facts than can be absorbed.
