THE MYSTERY UNDER THE FUGITIVE HOUSE

Newcomer and telescope-gazer Bantam Berns sleuths around the boarding house, traces the mean crook and his loot to the underground cave once used by fugitive slaves. Suspense is slight as the clues fall like ripe plums and rescue seems comfortably probable; characterization is also all. It's another case of piquant title, pablum plot.
