by Gerda- Ed. Charles ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 20, 1965
British novelist Gerda Charles has edited this good collection which includes the two contemporary classics, Philip Roth's The Conversion of the Jews and Irwin Shaw's Act of Faith: not far behind, Leonard Q. Ross' triumphant Mr. Kaplan and Malamud's Angel Levine. Obligatory inclusions are of course Isaac Babel and Isaac Bashevis Singer; then there are Dan Jacobson, Brian Glanville, Arnold Wesker, Alexander Baron and the editor's own among the more familiar names. Less well known, Yehuda Yaari, S. Yizhar and Isaac Rosenfeld... Something for everyone which extends certainly beyond the persuasion.
