KIRKUS REVIEW

The very shape of the book suggests the stilts which form its subject, though to the city child in this country, stilts are virtually unknown. Even the pogo stick brief craze failed to reintroduce stilts. But this book -- based on extensive research-shows that stilts make music; stilts were used by French orphans in a dance; India's stilts contribute to a good harvest; stilts are used for racing, reaching and running, for planting, in religious symbolism, etc.
