by Henry S. Maxfield ‧ RELEASE DATE: July 12, 1974
One year, until another spring, is what Reed Hunter gives himself to discover himself as well as whether he's a real writer in a house in New Hampshire without plumbing, heating and just enough chicken scratch to get him through the winter. But there sure are lots of folks around from the summer people to the ""social set"" to two young women who are attracted to him to the natives who know that ""bein' a man or a woman around these parts is a full-time job."" Maxfield leers genially if audibly as he sets about proving it but even if the plot's well hung with a pregnancy, a murder, a drowning and an ever-ready carnal compliance, it's still 365 days from ho to hum.
