HAVANA: Cinderlla City

A history, of the ""Cinderella City"", that gay, gaudy, licentious harbor, which through the centuries of Spanish exploitation was to be the butt of greed, lust and brutality. From Columbus onward, the conquistadores, the buccaneers, the inquisition, the days of the slave trade, the struggles between the English and Spaniards, and eventually the victorious outcome of the fight for freedom. Social life, industrial life, lightly etched, but primarily an account of the history. Brisk and colorful rendering, a background book, rather than a book for the casual tourist.
