Winner of the Inner Sanctum mystery award, this is mystery writing made even more difficult by the first person narrative approach. Ed Kolchak's talent in detection was his stubborn refusal to budge after arriving in the city to find his lost brother. The police bungled the investigation and the smell of corruption was everywhere on Clay St., where the brother was last seen. Good, tight storytelling.
