KIRKUS REVIEW

Magazines to book covers again for one of our favorite humorists -- though this is rather a potpourri, for there are travel pieces, stories, essays as well as the mad world that Thurber lives in. There are footnotes on nature, a farewell to a French Poodle, commentary on Foreign language guides, the whip-poor-will, the idiosyncrasies of a colored maid's English, feats of an ancestor, Connecticut automobile problems, a backward look at the Halls-Mills case, instruction in English -- and plenty more that provides all shades of entertainment for civilized tastes.
