THE NEW TESTAMENT IN MODERN ENGLISH

Since 1952 J. B. Phillips has been busy translating the New Testament into modern English. In 1952 he published The Gospels, in 1955 The Young Churches in Action (Book of Acts), in 1947, and 1957, Letters to Young Churches (The Epistles) and in 1957 The Book of Revelation. Now they are all put together in one volume, and many others in addition to those who read and prized the earlier, smaller portions of the New Testament will delight in this fresh translation which adds so much to understanding by the modern generation, which tends to be put off with the often archaic beauty of the King James version. Protestant clergy will eagerly welcome this book and readily recommend it to their people who ought to own and use it.
