QUICKSAND

This psy-fi begins in a mental hospital in Wales, ends on a deserted beach in France, and presents Dr. Paul Fidler who tells the story--an analyst who hasn't healed himself (an edgy existence, irritable marriage). From some or nowhere comes the girl he calls Urchin, a visitor out of time with a vista of a happy far country. Urchin has special skills and charms, and he tries to escape the sad incompatibilities of his life in the ""age of confusion"" with her.... This is quite sophisticated, involving, and there's almost no credibility gap.
