THE MIND, FIRST STEPS

This is the fourth title in the First Step Series-- which seems likely to remain strong and true to its original promise to present introductory material on complex subjects as clearly and simply as possible. In discussing the structure and functions of the human mind the author covers the conscious, the unconscious, reason, memory, physical and emotional responses. The author's preface explains that he spent some time with this age group in a schoolroom situation--meeting with them once a week to find out those questions and speculations on the mind that most intrigued them and the aspects that most needed clarification. This is the result and it is very well done-- always serious, but never condescending.
