A jaunty sequel to The Angry Planet takes readers on another thrilling and quite realistic trip to Mars. At the outset, Stephen a writer, and Dr. McGillivray a Scotch scientist, are marooned on Mars and in the grip of a horrible, undiscernible power. Messages to Earth reach their former companions, young Paul, Jacky and Mike who had previously made friends with Mars' ""Beautiful People""- plant-like forms with minds- and who are now the only ones who can save them. The three make the trip in another ship, and the upshot is eventual freedom from the ""Vivores"" or ""survivors"" who had once been human but had atrophied into huge, all-controlling brains. Excitement, plus probabilities based on scientific study make real science fiction.
