A PITCHER'S STORY

Although the battery here consists of Juan Marichal with Einstein who has previously authored the Fireside Books of Baseball. these two professionals can only play their own position and between them haven't made more than a bloop single out of Marichal's story. He's the ace of the Giants' staff but the book is slowed down by insignificant details (some games are not only ""highlighted"" inning by inning but pitch by pitch) and the reader suspects that Marichal would be much more comfortable working on his farm in his native Dominican Republic than trying to remember all the important games he forgot to mention. Even if Marichal is baseball's best pitcher today, it's not much more than a ""Class D"" replay.
