This has the Crime Club ""Something Special"" designation and actually it should attract a mutant market (science fiction) since it is very close in calibre and character to John Wyndham's The Midwich Cuckoos. Gordon Seacombe and Joan Grey, school-teachers in a quiet rural English school, after a fatal accident to one of the boys try to trace another of their students, talented, twelve year old Rodney Blake, a recurrent runaway. He was adopted, and there is evidence of an identical twin, and still another, and-- four in all-- Siamese quadruplets with scarred forearms and the strange pattern of accidental death they have set... Davies' changelings are fascinating, devastating, and their story is told with considerable skill.
