As acknowledged by Mr. Symons, this is reminiscent of the Moors Murders and other true-to-life annals of criminal psychopathology -- taking place in a small factory town where three girls disappear and where, for a time, official attention centers on a middle-aged married molester of nymphets. The always accomplished Mr. Symons uses straighter-forward procedural techniques to offset the horror of the case which entails a good deal of gristle and grue -- and then some.
