by Katherine Anne Porter ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 10, 1935
Limited edition publication of some of the stories included in this collection established the author in the minds of the too-limited audience as a worthy successor to Katherine Mansfield, with many of the latter's characteristics --simplicity, charm, beauty, restraint. There are ten stories in all -- with varying settings (several are Mexico), and varying individuality. However, the title story might be a good choice to get the essential flavor. The author is an American -- and to be watched.
