THE GREAT STORY

The story of Jesus Christ is told in the words of St. Matthew, St. Mark, St. Luke and St. John and illustrated, in full color, with reproductions from famous paintings by such artists as Raphael, Ghirlandaio, Leonardo da Vinci, Fra Angelico, Titian, etc. A skilful piece of weaving together, so that it makes a continuous narrative, with no break to indicate the source of one part or another. The choice of the fifteen paintings is perhaps open to controversy, as so many of the best loved paintings are omitted, while others -- that richly deserve wider familiarity -- are used in their place. It is amazing that this has not been done before. It should make an immediate place for itself, not limited to the juvenile field.
