THE LOST MOON MYSTERY

Young, irresponsible son of a banker finds small gratification in life until he learns that persistence pays. A creaky accidental murder plot is solved when he follows clues up to Lost Moon Inn, finds a pen knife and tracks down the owner. An unsavory judge, a wounded veteran, a star reporter complicate the plot. The boy's success wins him his father's and the neighborhood's respect -- and a chance at a new job. A bit too self-consciously preachy for straight mystery market.
