He writes for the amateur and the small plot owner, and leaves out no steps the novice should understand in order to secure a thriving crop. He reduces the complications to the simplest routine, and proceeds from selection to planting to care and harvesting. As a professor of horticulture, the author stresses, too, the value of fruit trees and bushes in landscaping, so every gardener is a potential bential customer for this book.
