Pixy people again shade into real life when those Brief Candles come alight to help their kinsman Richard Scroby. For Scroby is escaping his overwhelming aunt, does not recognize that he is the target for revenge from a Paris gang of thieves and is slow to realize that it is a pair of ghosts -- those revenanting Latimers -- who are responsible for pulling him out of his conforming rut. That Scroby's aunt reforms one of the Paris gang; that Scroby finds The Girl through the Latimers' gay assist; that the Latimers enjoy their short stay -- all winds around a slightly Wodehouse-ian butler for a materialization of nether-weather entertainment.
