HAIL TO YESTERDAY

Intimate autobiography of a charming, volatile woman whose seesaws up and down an amazing story. Destitute, close to seventy, on relief, Mara Millar looks at her champagne heydays. Born on a prosperous Kentucky farm, married at 18 to a ankes, older than herself, her years with him were a social whirl, up to his sudden death. Then New York and a brief theatrical career, from that to tearoom manager, designer and retailer. Always courted and feted, she chose spendthrift Hill, wild promotor, with a penchant for liquor, which finally got him, leaving her penniless. Personal history entertaining reading.
