by Marian Babson ‧ RELEASE DATE: July 16, 1990
Capable of turning out crisp and compelling work, Babson is at her whimsical worst in the series featuring the London p.r. firm of Doug Perkins and Gerry Tate (Tourists are for Trapping, etc.). Here, they've involved in the affairs of Doug's dentist, Endicott Zayle, who's also a client. Arriving at Doug's office in a panic, Zayle is sure he has just killed famed model Morgana Fane with a dose of his own experimental anesthetic. But when Doug comes upon the scene, he finds Morgana in perfect, indignant health. There is a corpse, however: it's Zayle's partner, Tyler Meredith, who has left several grief-stricken lovers behind--one of them Zayle's redheaded wife Adele. Meanwhile, the determinedly frantic atmosphere of the Zayle-Meredith office/the living-quarters establishment is heightened by the presence of Zayle's ex-general father, Sir Malcolm, who firmly believes that there's still a war on. The no-doubt adorable antics of the cat Pandora also take up lots of space, as a second murder adds complications and the whole mishmash lurches to its off-the-wall Finale. For super-dedicated fans only. Others will be pleased to find this one billed as the last of the series. Perhaps Babson can get back to business.
